Abstract

Dandruff is often seen in the primary care setting as well as in the dermatology field. In this article, we review the mostly used drugs for treating dandruff and compare their efficacy in eradicating the symptoms of dryness and flaking of the scalp, along with providing relief of associated pruritus. Examples of such agents include keratolytics, regulators of keratinization, antimicrobials, and naturopathic therapies. We examine their mechanisms of action and their efficacy in treating dandruff.

Abstract

In the present work, ten novel 3-(4,5-dihydro-3-(naphthalen-1-yl)- N1-substituted -pyrazol-5-yl)-1H-indole [1,1a,1b.1e,2] and 3-(4,5-dihydro-3-(pyridin-3-yl)-N1-substituted-pyrazol-5-yl)-1H-indole [5,5a,5b,5e.6] were synthesized by condensation between substituted pyrazoline and substituted hydrazine in the presence of glacial acetic acid. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity using carrageenaninduced paw oedema method and compared to the well known NSAID indomethacin as a standard drug. The entire synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy.
